Khairul Fahmi atau Apek diangkat antara penjaga gol terbaik Asia Bawah 23 ekoran prestasi cemerlangnya membantu Malaysia mempertahankan pingat emas Sukan SEA XXVI Indonesia, November lalu. Selain ketangkasannya diakui juga sepanjang pentas kelayakan Sukan Olimpik, dia juga menjadi kunci kepada kejayaan Kelantan menjuarai Liga Super pada musim lalu. Sementara itu, Mohd. Fadhli Shas menjadi pilihan utama di barisan pertahanan tengah dan digandingkan dengan pemain Australia, Rhys Williams yang kini bermain di England bersama Middlesbrough dalam Liga Kejuaraan. The depleted Harimau Muda battled to a 3-1 win over the Cheetahs at the Yishun Stadium despite the problems that they faced. There was some comfort for Harimau Muda though, as Hougang United's top scorer Jordan Webb was left on the bench for unknown reasons. "I have been facing this problem since last year, whenever my players get called up to the National Team. What we have to do is to stay positive before the match and they boys will talk to each other." Ong Kim Swee told aXrosstheline.com Hougang United dominated the proceedings in the opening minutes, with the first chance coming as early as the second minute, when Ante Barac's freekick was headed over by Stansislav Vidakovic. In the 11th minute, The Malaysians conceded their first corner in more than 190 minutes of football played, but the resulting corner was eventually cleared after some "pin ball" action in the 18 yards box. CHEETAHS' VERDICT: For the last five games, apart from the fixture in Jurong West, Hougang was dominant, either in one half or the entire game, but once again, their finishing touch was dismal. Bertambah membanggakan, nama mereka sebaris dengan beberapa bakat baru meningkat naik di benua Asia seperti penyerang Korea Selatan, Ji Dong-Won yang menjadi pemusnah Manchester City melalui jaringan tunggal 1-0 ke atas pendahulu Liga Perdana England itu dan bintang tengah Glasgow Celtic, Ki Sung-yeung. Khairul Fahmi atau Apek diangkat antara penjaga gol terbaik Asia Bawah 23 ekoran prestasi cemerlangnya membantu Malaysia mempertahankan pingat emas Sukan SEA XXVI Indonesia, November lalu.
